Litz wire addresses this limitation through a specialized construction: individually insulated strands are woven in a precisely transposed pattern, ensuring each strand occupies every position in the cable cross-section over a length interval. This design equalizes flux linkage and distributes current uniformly across all strands, dramatically reducing AC losses. Application Scenarios and Selection Criteria

While conventional stranded wire suffices for low-frequency power transmission (e.g., household wiring), litz wire excels in high-frequency applications where minimizing eddy current losses is critical. It is indispensable in high-efficiency transformers, induction heating coils, and wireless charging systems. The key distinction lies in frequency response: for sub-50kHz applications, standard stranded wire may be adequate, but beyond this threshold, stranded litz wire or more complex litz configurations become necessary to maintain efficiency and thermal stability.
